My message exceeds your 300-character limit. I hope this is acceptable to you.
I have a 2013 Mercedes S550. Dr. Pepper was accidentally spilled on the center console. It turned on the emergency flashers, and they will not turn off.
Mercedes is a bit tight-lipped regarding putting information about their vehicles online. However, I searched until I tried and discovered there is no fuse to disconnect the lights from the basic safety system.
I attempted to squirt enough WD-40 down the side of the switch actuator in hopes it would find its way into the area the Dr. Pepper had infiltrated and break loose the affected part of the switch. $17 wasted on that idea.
I also tried a small amount of rubbing alcohol, assuming it would destroy the dried Dr. Pepper and then evaporate. I should have added some orange juice to it and made a refreshing drink.
The only way I can get the lights to turn off is by unhooking the main battery cable.
Access to the switch is only available by removing the center console.
I was raised on a farm, rebuilt several engines, helped my uncle build a dirt-track stock car, and my first job out of the Army in 1957 was as a Customer Engineer for IBM. I have maintained my interest in mechanics and electronics since then. 1957 was a long time ago, and my hands just do not function well anymore.
So, I have heard good things about you and want to get your best cost estimate to remove the console to access the switch, either clean or replace it, then replace the console, and send me a bill.
I might even buy you a Dr. Pepper.
